Golf Tournament

This is an annual flighted tournament held in the summer with tee times assigned to teams. We accept 2 person teams as well as 4 person teams and singles. The number of flights and prizes are determined by the number of golfers participating.

There are several raffle packages to choose from for use of mulligans and raffle tickets and additional mulligans and raffle tickets may be purchased the day of the tournament for $5 per mulligan and $3 for each raffle ticket.

Reservations are paid in advance. You are notified via email once your tee time is determined. Payment can be made with one check or a check from each player. Refunds will be made in case of rain or if you are unable to attend.

There are two packages:

Package #1: $80 per golfer, $160 for 2 person team, $230 for 4 person team. This includes green fees, cart, continental breakfast, snacks, and lunch after the tournament.

Package #2: $95 per golfer, $190 for 2 person team, $380 for 4 person team. This includes 2 mulligans & 4 raffle tickets per golfer, green fees, cart, continental breakfast, snacks, and lunch after the tournament.

Check-in begins inside the Clubhouse. Once all of your team players have checked in, you can proceed to the carts and the first tee at your assigned tee time. The starter will instruct you as to course and tournament rules. There are marshalls on the course to keep things moving.

Beer and soft drinks are available at the clubhouse and there will be a beverage cart circling the course. No outside alcohol is allowed.

About

The Lawrence Lions Alumni Association “Scholarship Golf Tournament” began in 2000. All proceeds from the annual golf tournament go to the LLAA Scholarship Fund and the Hall of Honor. Because of the success of the tournament, the Association has been able to offer 10 to 12 scholarships each year to deserving LHS seniors.

Tournament Format

The tournament is held each June on a Saturday morning at a course in Lawrence, Kansas. The morning of golf is followed by a cookout and awards presentation at the course. The tournament is a four-person scramble format and is limited to the first 36 teams. You do not need to be an alumni or good golfer to play. Those wishing to play that do not have a complete four-person team will be paired with others needing partners. It is open to men, women, and children. Prizes are given to the top three places in three flights. There are also lots of giveaways and “skill” contests on each hole.

Tournament Sponsorship

There are several levels of sponsorships. Each sponsor receives recognition via signage at the course and in press releases and literature.
